Death of George Jackson of influenza, pneumonia and pleurisy.

Annual Pig Club meeting at Bottle and Glass. Lecture of nusing at Public Hall.

On Tuesday evening in the school room Rev. J Lewis presented to Mrs C. Bedford, who for years had presided at the harmonium in church, a handsome and massive marble timepiece inscribed "Presented to Mrs C Bedford by the choir and parishioners of Coates as a mark of their affection and esteem on her leaving the parish Lent 1898". Mrs B Allen also leaving was given a Prayer and Hymn book combined.
The entertainment by Coates Band of Hope in the Public Hall on Friday was attended by a small audience owing to a terrible storm.

Wesleyan Chapel AGM of friends. Mr. C. Rawson and company visited Coates; there was conjuring from Professor Davenport.

Illness of the Rector - Much regret that the Rev. J. Lewis who has been suffering most painfully for a long time has been ordered to take a complete rest for 6 months. Wesleyan Chapel Sunday School Anniversary.

The pig club which has been in existence for 4-5 years has been very fortunate; very few claims have been made upon funds. However in the last 2 months 3-4 members have lost valuable pigs and are able to appreciate the benefits of belonging to a string society. It has £30 in the bank.

William Baxter a labourer (68) was climbing on a stile at Coates when seized by a fit. In falling he caught his right leg between two bars and hung there nearly 2 hours. He was taken to Peterborough Infirmary and found to have fractured both bones of the leg (there is more in this report)

A Farewell presentation to the Superintendant of the Wesleyan Chapel Sunday School Mr. Saunders Newell who was going to Parson's Drove.

A VERY long report of the inquest of William Baxter (See above) entitled 'The Mysterious Accident: Died but not of his injuries.' Essentially, witnesses were asked about his fits and health.
Nov 25th 1899
Florence Mould and her parents thanked friends etc. who had contributed to the subscription aimed at helping her. She had been ill for 3 years.
